Harriet & Alex’s Wedding Day 2019

By Henry Richardson

This week we take another look back on the summer of 2019. Harriet & Alex hosted their big day in the village of Carperby in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. For those of you who know the area of have ever visited, you will know never to go too far without your trusty pair of wellies. Harriet clearly knew that!

Farmyard antics

Despite the weather the day went off without a hitch and some clever thinking made the most of the spaces available. Situated on the family farm the marquee stood majestically. The 12m x 24m Celeste Pole Marquee couldn’t look more at home creating the ever desirable outside inside feel which matched Harriet & Alex’s rustic themed styling.
We asked Harriet & Alex to give us a brief insight into what it was like planning their day. This is what they had to say as well as very kindly shouting out some of their suppliers:

Our wedding was largely a DIY job. We had planned to have our ceremony outside, but the weather intervened so we spruced up my parents’ barn (it’s amazing what a power hose and some bunting can achieve!). We made an arch out of wood and ivy, and guests sat on straw bales.

We didn’t have a lot of suppliers – we used Paella by Antonio for our catering. He is based in Lincoln but is happy to travel, the service and food was fantastic. We had tapas to start and paella for main course, and then a selection of desserts and cakes that we had made ourselves/that family and friends had contributed. My sister in law made our wedding cake, and my mother in law did the flowers.

Your Marquee offered us a friendly, professional and flexible marquee service – we opted to decorate the marquee ourselves with lights and paper lanterns, which were really effective. The marquee looked beautiful both inside and out, and was the perfect size for the guests that we had (about 135 seated on roundtables, with a dance floor and space for mingling near the bar). Henry came out to see the venue before we booked and was easily contactable in the run-up the wedding to reassure us/answered our queries. He was flexible to our last minute changes too! We have recommended the service to others, and consequently we have two family weddings coming up in 2021 who are using Your Marquee.
